OptumHealth Bank

Are you making the most of your health care savings?
Now you can.

If you’re enrolled in a qualified high-deductible health plan (HDHP), an OptumHealth Bank Health Savings Account (HSA) can help you save and pay for qualified medical expenses — tax-free. With an HSA, you can spend the funds now or save them for the future. Your HSA is your account. You own it. You can add to it. Even if you change jobs, it’s yours to keep.

HSA Advantages:

Control
You own the funds in your account from day one. You decide when and how to use them.

No more use-it-or-lose-it
Unused funds add up, and earn interest tax-free. The money is there when you need it — now or in the future.

Flexible funding
Anyone can contribute to your account — your employer*, you (by contributions you make or payroll deductions, if available) and/or any other person, through tax-deductible contributions.

* Check your plan materials to see if your employer will be making supplemental contributions.

Portability
Even if you change jobs, your HSA stays with you.

Expanded use for:

  • All qualified health care expenses, such as prescriptions or doctor’s office visits. See examples of eligible/ineligible expenses.
  • Non-health care expenses (but you’ll pay tax plus a penalty unless you are disabled or aged 65 or older).
  • Certain health coverage premiums, like COBRA, long-term care, health plan coverage while on unemployment, and any deductible health insurance, other than a Medicare Supplemental policy, for those aged 65 and over.
Investment options
Once your balance reaches your investment threshold, you can invest in a variety of funds.  Investments are not FDIC-insured, are not guaranteed by OptumHealth Bank and may lose value.
